Some products earn their place in a range over years. The eQUEST GripPro Leather is one of them.
Since its introduction, the original GripPro Leather has been a steady favourite for riders who wanted genuine leather performance with touchscreen capability and a classic English style. It has sold across dozens of colourways, gone out with riders at every level, and earned its share of loyal customers who have come back for it again and again.
So retiring it is not something we do lightly. But we are retiring it - and we want to be straightforward about why.
Why the original range is being discontinued
The honest answer is that we have developed something better.
The original GripPro Leather was built on a solid specification, but it had limitations. The sizing could be inconsistent across colourways. The leather construction, while genuine, was a standard bovine leather that performed well but did not stand out in a market that has moved on.
We also noticed that the colourways that made the original range distinctive - the broader palette of greens, pinks, purples and earthy tones - have become less central to what our customers are asking for, now that many of those colours exist in the X-LITE synthetic range. The overlap made less and less sense.
Rather than quietly letting the range age, we chose to clear it properly and replace it with something worth launching.
What is replacing it
The new eQUEST GripPro LEATHER is a different glove in almost every meaningful way.
The palm is cabretta leather - a finer, softer grade than standard bovine leather, used in high-end golf and equestrian gloves for its exceptional feel and durability. Cabretta is naturally black, which is why the palm on every new GripPro LEATHER glove is black regardless of the back colourway. It is not a design choice - it is inherent to the material.
The back is goat leather, chosen for its suppleness and the way it breaks in quickly without losing its shape. Together the two materials produce a glove that feels noticeably finer than the original from the first wear.
Sizing has also been overhauled. The new range runs XXXS to XL and aligns with the sizing across our X-LITE range, so if you know your X-LITE size, you know your GripPro LEATHER size.
The new range launched in Black and Tan/Black. Navy Blue and Chocolate Brown are on order. More colourways will follow.
The clearance: 14 colourways, now £18.00
Remaining stock of the original GripPro Leather is now priced at £18.00, reduced from £32.99. That is a saving of £14.99 per pair.
There is no promotional code and no end date. The price stays at £18.00 until each colourway sells out. When a colour is gone, the listing comes down.
The colourways currently available are:
• Baby Blue
• Beach
• Black
• Blush Pink
• Chocolate Brown
• Dark Green
• Grey
• Jade Green
• Merlot
• Navy Blue
• Orange
• Purple
• Tan
• White
Sizes available vary by colourway. Some are already low on specific sizes.
Who should buy the original at clearance price
If you have been a loyal GripPro Leather customer and want a pair at a price that reflects the clearance, this is the time. These are the same gloves that have been in the range for years - nothing has changed about the product, only the price and the availability.
If you want a second pair in a colour you already own, or if you have been curious about the range but put off by the original price, £18.00 is a straightforward offer on a genuine leather riding glove. You can get them here...
Ready to see the new range
If you want to see where the GripPro Leather is going rather than where it has been, the new eQUEST GripPro LEATHER is already live at eglove.co.uk/collections/grippro-leather.
Both ranges are visible on the same collection page for now. The original listings are clearly marked with their clearance pricing. The new listings are marked separately.
Thank you to everyone who has bought the original GripPro Leather over the years. It has been a great glove. Its replacement is better...
